September 6, 2011 – Minister Cadieux attended the grand opening of Pacific Coast University for Workplace Health Services in Port Alberni. The new university is the first of its kind in British Columbia, offering workplace health education programs with a focus on occupational safety, rehabilitation and disability management. The Minister announced 0,000 in funding from WorkSafeBC that will help establish a research chair focusing on occupational health and safety. Minister Stephanie Cadieux (left) is joined by Ken Neumann, Viateur Camiré, MP James Lunney and Wolfgang Zimmermann.

The Innovative Workplace – Part 3

The last of three parts of a video on “Innovative Workplaces”; a conference focused on increasing flexibility and responsiveness in modern companies through organizational change, better exterior and interior office design, improved space planning, and improving the health and safety of your human resources. Part 3 consists of a presentation by Dr. Ramona Apostol – a specialist in Occupation Health – discussing the importance of ergonomics to a safe and healthy work place. Dr. Apostol introduces a program to evaluate and improve the occupational health of the employees. In addition, Ms. Michelle Dietrich – the general manager of World Class Fitness Romania and an expert in health and fitness – discusses the growing problems of inactivity and obesity in Romania and proactive methods to address the problem. Ms. Dietrich’s presentation concludes with clear recommendations on how to implement a fitness program for the workplace to improve employee satisfaction, productivity and health.
