The idea is to reduce fat by making ingredient substitutions and small alterations, but not making drastic changes. The recipes are varied and creative and don’t resemble “diet food”: Ginger Shrimp Kabobs, Vegetable Potstickers, Stuffed Veal Chops with Cider Sauce, Vegetable and Ham Jambalaya, Curried Chicken and Nectarines, Caribbean Fish Salad, and Thai Shrimp and Rice Noodle Nests. The desserts include Chocolate Swirl Cheesecake with Raspberry Topping (only 20 percent fat!), Blueberry-Lime Torte (about 15 percent fat), and Double Chocolate-Date Cake (about 25 percent fat). Recipes are labeled with symbols indicating “low-calorie,” “low-fat,” “moderate-fat,” “low-cholesterol,” and “moderate-cholesterol,” so you can choose how far you want to go. Each recipe has a hefty amount of nutritional information: calories, fat, saturated fat, cholesterol, carbohydrate, fiber, protein, vitamins A and C, calcium, iron, and diet exchanges. Cooks who love knowing what the dishes should look like will enjoy the 45 mouth-watering color photos. –Joan Price

Is raw food really good for your health? Many people want to know the answer to this question, as the raw food diet getting a lot of attention of the last several years.

Quite simply, the diet most people eat today does not lend itself to get long-term health. Many people eat a diet rich in meat and dairy products, and therefore don’t achieve good health later in life.

The reason that raw food diet is so good for your health is that they contain enzymes, what your body needs to digest its’ food well. Quite simply, the only foods where enzymes are found is raw food because anytime you cook foods, the enzymes are cooked right out of it.

Only way to get enzymes is to eat your food raw and unooked; anytime you can cook food over a certain temperature, the enzymes are cooked out of it. This is why eating at a diet rich in raw food is so good for you.

Most raw food health advocates suggest you eat a diet with about 75% of your food being raw. Another great tip when eating raw food is to eat only raw food in the morning and at night. Quite simply, these times are the times that your body likes best to digest its food and cleanse its’ system.

When you put cooked food in your body, it has to spend that time trying to digest this food, and that’s why often times wake up more tired when you get up then when you went to bed; your body just spent the whole night digesting the cooked food, and had to work extremely hard to achieve this.

When you eat foods without enzymes the body has to manufacture its’ own digestive enzymes to aid in the digestion process because it’s not receiving it through it’s foods; when you get get it through your foods naturally, the body doesn’t have to work nearly as hard.

When you spend a lifetime eating cooked food, the pancreas wells up to at least twice its normal size. Hopefully these raw food health tips will help you get on the road to good health starting today. You are about to embark on an incredible adventure; good luck with your new raw food ways.

Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/ – Four Quick Meal Ideas To Get You On A Healthy Track Today

Dieting can seem like a rough, arduous ordeal for any person that is not accustomed to a healthy eating lifestyle. However, healthy eating is a pretty simple thing to master, once you learn a few tricks that get you thinking ahead, planning your meals, and enjoying the process rather than worrying about the destination. Here are four easy and quick healthy meal tips to help get you started on the path toward a new lifestyle.

#1 – Eat several small meals at four to six hour intervals, rather than two or three large meals per day. It can be a tough thing to get used to at first, but if you live a particularly sedentary lifestyle and are not very active, you do not need to overload your body’s metabolism with food in two or three large doses. By spreading out your meals, you keep your metabolism functioning at a peak, and your blood sugar and insulin levels remain balanced.

#2 – Always plan your meals ahead of time. Eating on the spur of the moment when you are in the early stages of a diet plan will destroy your diet in its tracks. Try to plan out your food for an entire day, each and every day, and prepare your meals accordingly. This is a great way to keep tabs on what you are eating, and it prevents you from overeating and splurging.

#3 – Drink a glass of ice cold filtered water with every meal, and at several times throughout the day. Water helps keep your metabolism burning along, and helps your body run efficiently. When you drink your water ice cold, your metabolism has to work extra hard to bring the water to the body’s temperature in order to make use of it. Over time, this will help you burn more calories.

#4 – Balance your carbohydrates and protein. Too much of one or the other, unless you are on an intense exercise program, will make your body work inefficiently. Ideally, one-third of your calories should come from simple carbohydrates, one-third from lean, quality protein, and one-third should come from essential fats, such as nuts and olive or vegetable oils.

Your protein works best if it is absorbed after your workouts. Try to consume lean animal protein such as chicken, turkey and fish rather than beef and other red meats.

Article Source: http://www.articlesbase.com/ – The World is a Much Cleaner Place Today – So, Why do We Need Kid Grooming in this Age?

Kids have been finding new and creative ways to get dirty for centuries. Today’s kids live in a cleaner world than ever, so why do we need kid grooming in this age? No matter how many anti-bacterial wipes a mom may use, or how much bleach is used in the bed sheets, children will always find some way to get dirty. The truth is the natural world is a breeding ground for illness and bacteria and always will be. It doesn’t matter how much we understand about germs, they will always be around.

Clean kids are healthy kids. A new reason that we need kid grooming in this age is that there are new hazards to avoid. People tend to spend more time indoors, and children are going to day care and preschool at younger and younger ages. When kids spend so much time together indoors, good hygiene is more important than ever. It is especially important that kids wash their hands several times a day to avoid spreading germs.

Washing daily can help diminish the spread of harmful bacteria that forms naturally on human skin and hair. It doesn’t matter how advanced a culture is, humans are still walking bacteria manufacturing factories. The only way to protect kids from the spread of illness and infection is through good grooming habits, which is an excellent reason that we still need kid grooming in this age.

People also tend to treat you better if you are well groomed. Children can be taught early in life to take care of their appearance so that they will be more confident as they go out into the world. We need kid grooming in this age because we are still judged by our cleanliness. Someone who smells bad or looks disheveled will be avoided no matter how old or young they are. Teachers and other parents will also worry that the child is neglected or being mistreated if they notice that the child is dirty all the time. You may know that your child is dirty because he refused to bathe last night, but his teachers and classmates will only see that he smells bad and they don’t want to be around him. It’s a parent’s obligation to make sure their child is clean and presentable before he goes out into the world.

The most important reason we need kid grooming in this age as much as we’ve needed it in every age is because it teaches kids how to take care of themselves once they have grown up. If parents take the time to teach their children how to groom themselves, and reinforce their lessons daily, the kids grow up to be clean and healthy adults. A good grooming regimen can be invaluable as a person grows and begins to look for a job or a husband or wife. Nobody wants to be around someone who smells or looks bad, and as a parent you can give your child the foundation of a good grooming regimen that will benefit him for the rest of his life.
