Upper East Side, Central Park – Jun 2008 – 085

These pictures were taken on two successive days when I had doctor appointments on the Upper East Side of NYC, and had the chance to walk along Fifth Avenue, and then through Central Park in order to return to my apartment on the Upper West Side, at Broadway & 96th

I had spotted this woman jogging in Central Park a little earlier — how could you not notice someone in a bright pink top and pink hat? She had been running south, while I was walking north, and she went by too quickly for me to get a picture.

But about ten minutes later, as I was approaching Columbus Avenue and 96th Street, she jogged past me again … she had to stop at Columbus Avenue, because of the traffic, so she was actually jogging in place when I took this picture…

healthy diet tips

About Kitty Food

Occasionally, there are cats that have only been fed only the most palatable and expensive canned food. As long as these cats are healthy – things are good. If this cat becomes sick, many times it can be difficult to get them to eat. If they won’t eat – there is no place to go. You can try canned tuna or chicken baby food but that is about it.

A healthier alternative is a cat that has been offered a variety of foods – has a core good quality dry food diet and gets a variety of canned foods as a treat. Cats that have been exposed to lots of things and often can be encouraged to eat when they are sick (better than the spoiled Prince and Princesses of cats).

I believe that the most important thing you should do when feeding your cat is to ensure that you are feeding a high quality premium food. The second most important thing is that to make sure your cat likes it and is eating well.

I also think the best approach is to offer a variety. I believe feeding a core dry food diet that is premium in quality is great supplemented with a variety of canned treats.

Feeding canned can help you determine your cat’s eagerness to eat and therefore appetite on a regular basis (which can be harder to determine then just feeding dry food). I think feeding different textures; different flavors and types can be beneficial.

Black Skin Care Products – Sun Protection Factor

Black Skin Care Products – Sun Protection Factor

There are many different skin types and they require various black skin care products. It is important to know what kinds of products are out there today and how they may be used. There are African American skin care products offered as well as the generic versions. It is worthwhile to know how they rate.

First let’s take a look at the skin care brand names. Some of the skin care companies that top the list are (in alphabetical order) Arbonne, Avene, Cellex, Dermalogica, DHC, Elemis, Eminence, MD, Murad, Neutrogena, Obagi, Origin, PCA, Philosophy, Proactiv, RoC, Sage, Serious, Shiseido, and Yonka.

With products like these, it is hard to know what to watch for. A stroll down the skin care aisle can be overwhelming. The choice of brand name you use will depend on your personal preference, cost, and product line. However, you may want to be careful to find the products that are designed for black skin or African American skin.

Black skin has a built-in sun protection factor (SPF) which is about four times tougher than the typical SPF for white skin. This cuts down the aging effect of sun. This means when it comes to a black skin care product or an African American skin care product, you may be less apt to look for anti-aging products as early as a person with lighter skin.

When the aging process first begins, the skin care products you will need are those designed for the more common issues related to black skin. Simply said, darker skin does not mature as fast as lighter skin and when it does, wrinkles are not at the top of the list of concerns. The aging process for black skin is usually marked by a toughness of the skin, or small benign growths, changes in pigmentation, and sagging skin. Part of the issue with black skin as it ages that the skin cells tend to be more accumulative and more likely to stick together. Part of the special black skin care requirements is a product that keeps the skin cells sloughing off.

It’s also a good idea to explore the black and African American skin care products for general skin care early on. While the aging process is delayed, good early skin care is always a good idea. Well nourished skin is more resistant to the ravages of age.
