Is there anything I can do to boost my metabolism? Like walking? Any specific vegetable or something? My whole life I have ate junk and laid around and my metabolism is shot. I’m wondering if it will always be really slow or if you can build it up again?

Start exercising and eating right. Cut out the junk food and start walking. Move on to better exercise when you can.

I’m a 16-year-old girl. About 3 months ago, I started consuming very little calories in order to lose weight. i wasnt over weight, but im a dancer so i just wanted to lose a few lbs. i was eating about 100 cals a day for about 3 weeks, and then i started eating about 500-600. With this, I was doing lots of cario exercise. now i eat about 600-900 a day. i recently read an article about how low cal diets lower your metabolism. now im freaking out cuz i reallly dont want to gain a bunch of weight back. how can i start eating more with out gaining a lot of weight. im on a no carb diet (under 60 grams a day) for medical reasons, and i only eat healthy and exercise every day. how gradual should i increase my cals? help please!!! THANKS!

Low carb is fine, and increasing your calories is fine, but to increase your metabolism, the problem is meal frequency.

What really speeds up your metabolism is having smaller, more frequent meals. Since the meal is smaller, your body won’t store excess calories as fat, and since the meals are more frequent, it keeps your metabolism always working and burning calories all day long.

A good goal is to aim to eat every 3 hours. This should do the trick.
