How can I stop giving in to cravings for chocolate and cookies? (That’s the only unhealthy stuff I’m addicted to).
I always crave a sweet breakfast, so I have cereal or jam on toast. What are some healtheir alternatives? With little sugar?

I am just starting the Nutrisystem program myself (so I can’t say if it works yet, plus I haven’t exactly been consistent)
but I read their boards, and people there who actively avoid sugar tend to prefer things like eggs for breakfast. So I would say probably something like ham or eggs or bacon or sausage, just watch your fat intake. Pancakes with fruit are good too. Some days, I just have a tall glass of orange juice for breakfast because I’m not hungry when I first wake up. Oatmeal also has less sugar than say, sweet cereal. Or you could try a bran or a blueberry muffin (but not a huge one).

I just recently started the South Beach Diet and I have a question. Do you have to follow the menus strictly? Because it’ll tell you to eat certain allowable foods for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and snacks. But i don’t. I mean i stick with the plans meaning the requiered foods, but if im not hungry i dont eat. I may not eat a snack or a lunch. And i’d maybe eat a lunch for some of the dinner plans. For instance, a days menu could say that you should eat eggs, tomato juice, and canadian bacon for breakfast, turkey roll ups with cilanto dressing for snack, tuna salad for lunch,mozzarella stick for snack, and some eggplant meal for dinner. But I ate the mozarella stick for breakfast (cuz i wasnt hungry), the turky slices, but ate them with low fat chesse and jello (allowed foods) and i prolly will have a lunch meal for dinner since eggplant isnt appealing. Is this ruining the chemistry of the diet or is it okay?

I didn’t exactly stick to the plan, but you have to make sure that you are eating, you really shouldn’t be skipping meals or snacks. I lost close to 30 pounds. Here is what I did.

Mozz. Stick and fatt free jello in the morning
Mozz. Stick for a snack
Salad w/ oil and vinagar(chicken, tuna) for lunch
Meat and veggies for dinner.

The low carb diet is a great thing for someone who does not have high colesterol. I would sometimes cook up a whole batch of Jimmy Dean sausage and eat it at midnight when I was really hungry. And the next day I actually lost weight.

Instead of doing the SB diet. I would reccommend just cutting carbs out of your diet for a month or two, you will lose a ton of weight and when you get to where you want to be, try just eating well and exercising. That is what I do and I have been about 40 pounds lighter for over a year. I only did the no carb thing for about a month.

i like to run a good 4 miles when i can then return home and work my core with situps, leg lifts, and such. then u could always go to pushups and tricep dips if u care about arm size.

The diet & exercise regimen that the weight-loss doctor orders up being “Lap Banded” is very strict.. I am just really confused. The diet/exercise plan alone will make you lose the weight- no matter how fat you are, with or without the LapBand. I am really confused as to what the point of the $ 20,000 LapBand is??

Actually you are wrong. Not all people can lose weight easily. And the diet they have you follow is nearly impossible without the lapband because your stomach does not get full. With the lapband, your stomach is a lot smaller, and the amount of food they have you eat is all the stomach can handle at that size.

The LapBand and the diet they have you follow work together for the weight loss.

Perhaps you can use this opportunity to make a pledge to yourself! Some of mine are:
1- If your body is healthy and in perfect balance, there is no reason to show any sysmptoms of being unwell!! So to always be in-tune with my body and get help for it when needed (and to ensure the same for my family!). And by help I mean as much as possible help from natural/holistic medicines.
2- To treat my skin well! Harsh skin products filled with perfumes and other harmful chemicals don’t do your skin any favours!
3- Not to grow my fringe! I’ve realised a shortish fringe suits me best.
4- Not to thin out my eyebrow too much, it doesn’t suit me!
5- To moisturise my lips at least twice a day.
6- To take better care of my eyes, mostly to clean my contact lenses well and dispose of them as soon as they expire. I have been quite neglectful of my eyes’ health for a long time!
7- To change my exercise and sleeping habits(i.e. exercise more often. Sleep earlier at night and become more of an early riser)

there is no such things as a safe crash diet.

eat lots of veggies, fruits, beans, whole wheat, nuts, and tofu/meat substitute. 🙂 also if you eat eggs and dairy, eat some of those too.
